Harman how to listen
How to Listen is a desktop software application developed by the Harman International R&D group for the purpose of training and selecting listeners used in audio product research, development, and testing. The software consists of a number of training exercises where different kinds of timbral, spatial and dynamic distortions commonly found within the recording and audio chains are simulated and added to music.
This is a double blind A/B test, which is used to find the lowest distortion level where you can hear a difference between the reproduced sound and the original stimulus.
- Determine your audibility threshold and compare it with the results of other participants.
- Train your ear and your capabilities for more carefully assessing sound.
- Hear typical signal distortion generated by nonlinearities and other defects of loudspeakers and other audio systems. You can select the particular device under test (DUT).
Philips Golden Ears training program was designed to develop the listening skills of audio engineers. It consist out of five key attributes: timbre, distortion, spatial impression, bass and loudness.
